Married, working mom of 2 healthy kids who actively wears stretch. Que Fancy!

We Made It!

I'm not even going to make excuses anymore for the lack of blogging that goes on here. I get busy people! But every once in a while, I remember that I do have this blog that is meant for updating family and friends and so here I am. The kids have 1 more day of school, Moreno Valley wanted to stretch it out as far as they possibly could and since all the other school districts are out they were like, "okay that's long enough. Set them free". Ava even had a homework packet this week that I may or may not have made her do. It was an interesting school year though. We learned that Landon is kinesthetic learner and gets bored with handout after handout. We learned that Ava gets her feelings hurt very easily (substitute made her cry). We learned that I still won't get notified when they get awards (seriously). We learned that Landon's favorite person on campus is Mr. Paul (the custodian) who lets him take extra food even though I make him a lunch. Everyday. And we learned that growth spurts can happen more than once a year. We had several for each kid. I don't think I've ever gone through clothes for them so fast before.

Blog worthy moments:
Sam and Shelby got married!! Haha I'm only 2 months late... <3

Father and Son camp out happened. Landon and Omar were 1 of 3 father/son combos that braved the rain and cold to go up to Lake Hemet and stay overnight. Lucky for Omar, Landon has always been a natural heater so they were kept nice and toasty. Ava and I spent that night going to sushi and walking around Target. She was a tad upset that she didn't get to go with them and may have cried (its becoming a thing with her) but we assured her that we would all go as a family this summer. We did eventually take a family fishing day at Jenks Lake, where we as a group, upset more fisherman than caught fish. I never realized how serious a sport it was. Several kids crossed lines with other people which was not appreciated. But we did meet some nice gentlemen who let the kids hold a fish so that the day wasn't wasted.

A car ride home from school one day, Landon asks "Mom, what is making out?" I almost died from laughing. And then in a stern voice said, "Why?!" To my surprise, Ava was the one that answered. "It's when you kiss your girlfriend a lot". OMG

Landon turned 8! We celebrated with a Star Wars party and a few friends and cousins. My mom made jedi robes for all the kids and I put together some light sabers made from pool noodles and duct tape. Thank you pinterest! My sister in laws also went to town in decorating my backyard into a galaxy far far away. They seriously need a party decorating business. I'd pay them if they let me and am so lucky to have them for sisters. Landon also had a decision to make shortly after turning 8, whether or not to be baptized. And he chose to be baptized! Omar and I were thrilled and went out and bought him his own "business man" suit as he calls it. We also got him his own set of scriptures that he likes to navigate through and attempt to understand. I'm glad that he is taking it seriously though and is eager to learn more. He is also excited about joining scouts and getting to make rocket launchers.

Here are some shots from a very impromptu photo shoot we had after church last Sunday ;)

Last weekend we took the kids to Knotts Berry Farm for Omar's company picnic. It was a perfect day to go, the weather was amazing! Cloudy and cool, sweaters necessary at night. The kids had a blast, except for a couple meltdowns Ava had because she wasn't tall enough to go on a couple roller coasters. I told her that I too had to deal with height restrictions at her age and promise that she'd grow. Legit promise, right? For only being 15 months apart, Landon is pretty much a head taller then her.

As for summer plans, camping is priority. The kids will definitely hold me to it. I'd like a beach trip soon as the weather is gross and hot. Happy Summer Vacation everyone!
