Things lately

Things around here have been pretty hectic. May is a busy month for us. This past thursday I got the worst news, that my best friend in the whole world had lost her dad. The worst part for me was not being able to be there right away. Much of my high school and college days were spent at her house with her parents, brothers and grandma. Her dad would occassionally pop into her room and ask us out of no where what we were going to do with our lives. At that moment it was read the latest issue of Seventeen magazine and watch E! while reminescing about our younger nerdy years. I always thought that eventually after a 4 day sleepover I'd be asked to go home, but I never was. Her dad never complained that I was there, okay maybe sarcastically, and never complained about having another mouth to feed. He was a really funny guy and even though he had his demons, he always put his kids first.

I stumbled upon the perfect scripture when he passed,
Revelation 21:4 "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away."
and it has provided me with so much peace. I shared it with my friend in hopes that it would do the same for her. Even though he was gone too soon, he will surely be missed.

The following sunday was Mothers Day, so Omar took me out to lunch along with my mom and brother. Landon was grumpy for most of the time and all Ava wanted to do was play with Jake. :)

My mom really is a great person. Even through our struggles I always knew she loved me and tried her best to do what she could for us. And now that she has her 2 favorite grand kids in the world, she tries even harder for them. I'm pretty much chopped liver if they're in the same room.

Things that I am looking forward to this month... our beach trip to Camp Pendleton with my mom and grandpa. I used to go with my grandparents there pratically every summer when I was a kid. And Landon's 4th birthday!! He also gave me the BEST mothers day gift yesterday. He said bed time prayer ALL BY HIMSELF and did an excellent job. :D Proud momma right here!
