Las Vegas Lessons

So last week Omar took the entire week off from work so that we could squeeze in as much family fun time as possible. That Saturday we bought a new car :) Well, new to US.

A Ford Fusion has been welcomed to the family and we Love it. It's roomy, has all the bells and whistles, RUNS! lol. That's important to me. The following Sunday we thought we'd take our annual Disney trip. So we loaded the car, drove to my sister's to borrow a double stroller and then got breakfast before heading into the park. While there the kids start coughing! And I start to get super achy.. uh oh, right? I figure we'll make a quick run to Target, grab some Motrin and some cough meds for the kids. We FINALLY get to Disney, park and take the tram in. Omar gets in line to buy the tickets and I wait in the shade with the kids (it was unusually HOT that day). While waiting I notice Landon isn't looking so great. Eyes half open, sweaty, not talking, not excited. Hmm... he then proceeds to puke. He pukes SO HARD that he pops the blood vessels in his face and then says, "Mom, I just want to go to my bed." And then cries. My heart breaks because he's embarrassed, he's at Disneyland and all he wants is his bed. So we turn around and leave. By the time we got home, we were ALL sick. Luckily Omar was still able to function and was able to stock us up on meds, gatorade, fruit and tissues. We remained home for the week..... UNTIL friday. Friday the kids were off to San Diego with my dad and Omar and I were on the road to Las Vegas for his cousin's wedding. But as if the world didn't hate me enough, I awoke on Friday morning to find not one, but two huge cold sores on my lip. Not a good look and definitely not how I wanted to remember my first time in Vegas. Needless to say, we still had fun. :)

Me and my 2 buddies... at 3am

Stuck in traffic on the strip with Victoria :)

The prized Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate

As a beginner to whole Vegas thing.. I learned a couple things.
1) If you don't want to endure the smell of cigarette smoke, stay at the MGM. They had the CLEANEST smelling casino there.
2) The Stratosphere is way far away from everything :P
3) Park valet (just remember to tip!)
4) When you get to Vegas, sign up for a Total Rewards card. It's free and you get a lot of perks with it. Discounts, a booklet of free coupons, and $10 pre loaded to play with.
5) Pay the $44 price for a 24 hour buffet. It sounds pricey, but its good for 24 hours and you get access to 6 different buffets. So say you eat breakfast at one, walk the strip a little and get hungry again, pop into a buffet and voila! Free.
6) Don't waste your $$ at Serendipity. Ya, the frozen hot chocolate is DELISH! But, I make it better. :) And their service sucks by the way.
7) Don't take the cards from the venders off the street... they aren't playing cards lol.
8) Use back streets if you need to get from one end of the strip to the other. It's faster and you won't miss a wedding from being stuck in traffic :P
9) Carry antibacterial soap.
10) the Rio has the BEST buffet. ;)
11) If the escalator isn't working, find the elevator.
12) Fill up your tank before you drive home. Gas is significantly cheaper there. $3.75 there vs $4.35 here.

And that's what I learned. I had a blast and can't wait to go back...
In the meantime, we are trying to figure out when to re-do Disney and I have yet to fully recover from the lack of sleep I suffered.
