You read that right... I got rid of the heinous vertical blinds that were in our room. For one; about 4 of the actual blinds broke and fell off and two, the previous homeowners installed them crooked, and three, well.. they were awful and reminded me of apartment living. So one afternoon I decided to do it myself and NOT wait for Omar to come home and put them up. Independent woman right? Wrong. I mean, at first I tried getting the screws out with a wrench and then realized that wasn't going to work, so I poked around for Omar's drill and then found the drill bits and basically got lucky because the size I needed was already on the drill! I grabbed the ladder and went to work on removing the screws and voila!
They gone!
I seriously felt so cool and "property brothers"-esque. Luckily I was put in check minutes after because I ended up bending those little plastic things that you're supposed to shove into the wall before you put the new screws in. Ya, so plan failed. I ended up waiting for Omar because I didn't want to bend anything else or end up hurting myself in the process. Luckily he just laughed and then went right to work at finishing my project for me. I'm so lame. tah-dah!
Please excuse the wrinkles in the curtains... Omar shoved them on before I could steam them and well... I have yet to lol.
I also took advantage of Target's clearance and scored some throw pillows for the bed :)
We also threw a curtain in the bathroom... the 4 o'clock sun is a blinding nuisance in there. I'm not 100% sold on it yet though.
The lame picture quality doesn't help either. Bleh.
As for the kiddies... we all took turns being sick again. Sunday I noticed Landon coming down with something, Monday morning he begged to go to school because it was their 100th day of school and "Zero the Hero" was coming to class, whoever that is. So I let him go and expected to get a call that he threw up in the hallway or something. Luckily he made it but came home worse than when he left. He stayed home tues, wed, and thurs and went on Friday so he could hand in his packet. That's when Ava started showing the same symptons that Landon had. She also shared it with me as well. That's 2 weekends in a row for us.
Nearing the end of the sickness...
Hopefully by Thursday Ava will be better, she has a physical scheduled to get her all ready for KINDERGARTEN! I know, who schedules immunizations on valentines day?! I picked up her enrollment packet last week and made all the necessary appointments so that we could get it done ASAP. She says she's ready to go to school... I'm not so sure. Landon I didn't have to worry about much. He's the social one. Ava is more cautious, observant, and takes everything in. Sound familiar? In the mean time, her and I are enjoying our one on one time together in the mornings. Some of the Starbucks employees know her by name and drink, "Ava with a kids chocolate milk!"
Here she is working in her workbook :) She's quite the artist.
I've been keeping busy with keeping this place in working order and preparing for another big Valentine's Day (I like to do it big for the kids ;)
Just happened. :) Happy Valentines!
