He hops in the truck like always, sits, buckles up, we drive off... and that's when I notice this intense look on his face. Like he's thinking hard on something. So I wait for him to ask (because he always does) and not long after he says, "Mom, what am I supposed to do when I get a girlfriend?"
Me: That's not for another 10 years, so you don't have to think about it now
L: I want to. Like, do we go to the movies?
Me: you could do that
L: Oh! I know! We could go to the store! Like you and dad do!
Me: hmm.
L: Man! I just do not know what I'm going to name our children!
Me: ?! What?
L: Our children! I don't know what to name them. I think I'll name them after my best friend.
Me: sounds good.
Why are we having this conversation already?
In other news: We have grass! Three weeks ago when we were prepping the yard for the grass seed I was hating life. I hated the stupid people that let their dogs ruin their yard. I hated their stupid dogs that ruined everything. And I hated weeds. Like real bad. It took Omar and I an entire weekend to get all the weeds out, level the yard, till it, spread fertilizer and seed and then some more fertilizer. I kept asking myself, "why didn't we hire anyone to do this?!" Here we were, sun burned, exhausted and pretty much going off of youtube tutorials and what the guy at Home Depot said. And here we are... 3 weeks later. :)
And with this new revelation that I CAN actually keep something alive (other than my kids :P) I am going nuts over on pinterest trying to get more backyard ideas so that I can spruce ours up! We pretty much have endless possibilities here people.
In between the grass growing, we meet up with some kids our own age ;) And by "our" I mean, Ava.
Ava and her friends Haley and Emma. I know, they look related. They're not. We meet these cuties when Ava and Haley were babies. Only 10 days apart, Omar used to work with Haley's dad and naturally me and Haley's mom are both social ladies and love to chit chat. So we met up at Starbucks so the girls could color and get some sun while we vented to each other. So nice sometimes!
Landon got his FIRST ever report card! It's just a semester report card, but still! And he got all "O"'s. Which are basically the equivalent to an "A". So we are super proud of him. He also was invited to join the Kindergartener's Readers Club. His teacher sends him home with a book to read every week. He loves it and I love to hear him read.
And last but not least, Omar got a new toy. I made the mistake of going and taking a picture of a cool BBQ display set up thing and sent it to him as an "idea" if you will. Just like, "hey! check out this setup! Pretty nice!" I meant for like the future... not this weekend. Anyway, he saw it, wanted it. And now this is in my backyard too
He was so excited to break it in. And those kabobs! AMAZING!
Spring Break for us starts next week. I keep counting down the days because lets face it. I'm not a morning person and would just LOVE to stay in my sweats for one day. I'm sure Ava wouldn't mind either. And speaking of Ava, I took in her kindergarten enrollment packet. She's ready for August now and everyday asks if she's going to school today. :( I keep telling her not til after her birthday and that just opens up another batch of questions. Never ends!!
