Getting Ready for Summer

It's been busy around here lately so I'm hoping that with summer vacation just around the corner things will slow down a bit and give me a chance to breathe. We went to another wedding! My old friend Jeanette from middle school married her high school sweetheart on May 25th, and wouldn't you know it. Omar played soccer with her husband when they were in elementary school. Small world! The ceremony was gorgeous and she looked stunning as usual.

Landon had open house the same night that we had Ava's kinder orientation so which was a win/win situation. Here he is with his teacher Mrs. Israel.

After open house, we went to dinner where Landon was bribed into yanking out the other loose tooth that he's had FOREVER. It was to the point where it hurt him to bite into food, so Omar then pulled it out in the parking lot. :)

We also celebrated his 6th birthday.... I had a hard time with this one. No longer is he my little boy.. he's like a full on boy ya know? Buying that #6 candle was tough. We didn't have a party for him this year because we were going to Sea World that weekend for Omar's company picnic, so we piggy backed off of that ;) But we did have cake and ice cream and some presents for him.

With his pillow pet :)

His class singing Happy Birthday to him.

On this day, he was supposed to go to school dressed up as "What I want to be when I grow up" attire... I forgot about it the night before and tried to figure out what we could dress him as, he decided he'd like to be a detective. Easy! We dug through his toy box for a badge, threw on a church vest that was 2 sizes too small and voila! I had to complete the look with a drawn on mustache. He definitely looked the part :)

This past Thursday, as I was on my way into the kitchen to tackle the mess that had accumulated from birthday madness, I skimmed the top of a screw from the floor board with my barefoot. It basically ripped open the bottom of my foot and it started to bleed immediately. I hopped into the kitchen to grab paper towels, yelled for Landon to bring me a chair and some band aids and freaked out for a little bit. I couldn't get a good look at the wound to see if a hospital visit was needed and if the blood was going to stop. And therefore spent the rest of the day in the recliner as I couldn't walk. The kids destroyed the house that day. Friday was a little better, I could hobble around a little more and did dishes on my knees on a chair. This injury totally screwed with our Sea World plans for Saturday so I tried to do as much as I could to convince myself that I could still go. Omar was a little less enthused as he knew he'd now have to do most of the packing, kid wrangling, walking... lol. Luckily my sister in law and niece were coming with us and they helped out SOOOO much with the kids and taking turns wheeling me around Sea World in my wheelchair.

The injured foot.

Victoria and Sylvia have more pictures... I couldn't be the active picture as I couldn't more around as freely :( But it was a blast non the less, other then the utterly depressed Polar Bear that kept pacing. Ava said it was doing that because he had to go potty.

We also celebrated our great nephew's 1st birthday!!

Landon only has this week left of school... and then he'll be on the road to 1st grade! What we're going to do all summer beats me. I'd like to plan a camping trip and a couple beach trips in there. Museums, drive in dates, and who can forget our big 4th of July celebration!! Oh.. Ya. And Fathers Day ;) oops.
