Can you believe it?! He's 5 and loves saying it. To celebrate we had a small backyard birthday party and this year's theme was "Avengers". Ever since seeing the movie earlier this month he has been obsessed with action figures, Iron Man in particular. We had balloons, streamers that my sister in law put up since I can't do a thing with them, an Avengers cake, party bags, a pinata, and a bon fire to roast marshmallows for s'mores. It was pretty perfect. Omar and I had bought a cheap $2 cape that we found in the party section at Target and were excited to show it to Landon so that he could wear it at the party. He liked it for like 5 minutes and then wanted it off. I think I liked it more than he did.
Giving me their best Iron Man interpretation.
Tio Christian on the roof holding the pinata!
We made each kid spin in a circle according to their age ;)
Cousin Gio taking a crack at it!
Jake and Kelsey
Omar and his brother Saul
Finally a smile from him after he opened a ton of clothes ;)
Apparently THIS is the coolest toy right now... lol

Cute lil Ava with the cape.
S'more time!!
With his new Iron Man collection....
He also got a couple gift cards that he just HAD to spend so we went to go check out the possibilities. He picked up another Iron Man accessory, a Batman action figure, and a Green Lantern dude. He has been totally content to play alone with these guys and for that I am grateful. Ava has been having a harder time trying to cope with the fact that it's Landon's birthday and not hers but even so, out of nowhere she'll say to him "happy birthday landon". Funny story of the day: When we were getting every dressed that morning I had Omar do Landon's hair and Landon told him that he wanted his hair to look like Justin Beiber. I also had to make a pit stop before we went along with our busy day and took Landon with me and while in the car he says to me, "Mom, do I look like Justin Beiber?"..."Uh.. no you're cuter."
Landon: But I had daddy do my hair like him.
Me: it looks nice.
L: do you think people will think it looks like him?
m: i don't know. maybe?
So we run into the store and he says to me
l: mom, no one is saying that I look like Justin Beiber.
m: hmm... maybe they're just too busy shopping.
l: well maybe if you say, "oh my gosh! is that Justin Beiber?!!" they'll notice!!!!
Wasn't going to happen.. lol.
Today, his actual birthday I had a couple surprises in store for him. First one I got from pinterest..
Taping streamers to the door frame so that he could bust out of his room in the morning. So I had to wait til they were completely asleep, after all the bathroom interruptions, the "you didn't give me a hug" or "I need a kiss", and the I'm thirsty excuses. After all that, I peeked to make sure they were out and then closed the door so that I could begin taping. And what do ya know? I can't find my scotch tape. My super simple plan was already failing. Until I found my box of push pins and just pinned then into the wall ;) Boom! Done! Little did I know that they would pick this day to sleep in. Ya see, I got up extra early so that I could make sure to see him come out of his room. Around 9:15 I got impatient and opened the door and started yelling for them to wake up. The first thing Landon said was, "Am I 5 now?". Then he did this...
As if it were no big deal he just walks through... I was disappointed in the reaction. After all, I DID wake up super early. lol. We had a little family dinner just for the 4 of us and then had my mom and grampa over for dessert. :)
More presents!!
After their brownie sundaes. :)
I would sporadically say throughout the day, "Happy Birthday Landon!" and this last time I did it he said to me, "okay mom. I get it, it's my birthday!!!" lol. oh. I guess I was just so excited for him :) Now all he's interested in is playing with his action figures all by himself. Which I am totally cool with ;)
