Yep! The cat's out of the bag now. As of Friday, we are officially homeowners. We decided back in July when we entertained the thought of actually looking into buying vs another year of renting. We called a lady (aka our lender) and she was able to inform us that we were in fact able to buy. News to us!! So we gathered the necessary paperwork (you KNOW how that is), got acquinted with a realtor and started looking. We soon realized that San Bernardino was NOT the place we wanted to be. We searched high and low, went on many walk through's, looked at dozens of comps and kept an eye on redfin.com. In mid August, we found it! In Moreno Valley of all places. Unfortunately, it was also a short sale. And for those of you that aren't familiar with that, its a whole other ball game. We were told that once the buyer accepted that offer, that the bank that owns the home also had to accept and that could take anywhere from 10 weeks to 6 months. Luckily it only took 2 months and under the stipulations that it closed when the bank wanted it to close which was sooner than expected. Long story short, after 2 extensions and days of waiting and waiting, we got the call to come get keys. :) It wasn't until I walked into the doors of OUR home that I realized how much work we had in store. Here are some before shots:
So as you can see.... the wall color is GROSS! And the poor fireplace.. why?!
Just looking at the paint all over again made me tired mentally. I had to get paint ASAP and start brushing the life back into this house.
Outside's cute right?
Yay!
Our first trip to Home Depot for OUR home! Definitely won't be the last so keep those gift cards coming! Ha, ha.
So, I know the wall looks yellow... but it's tan. Its actually, "Mushroom Bisque" but nonetheless, its a tan. My plan is to paint that fireplace to give it new life.
This is my paint swatch color thing. From left to right, Ava's room, Landon's room, our room, the living room and hallways, and the baseboards and fireplace.
I have yet to decide on a kitchen color. The plus to my kitchen is that it's completely '80's and needs updating so I have SOOO many possibilities, it's almost overwhelming. I'm so proud of my cabinets though, because they are REAL wood and not that MDF fake stuff. I can't wait to get my hands on those.
Yesterday was our anniversary, 6 years! And we spent our day at a brunch breakfast and then got started painting and didn't finish until 1030pm. We wouldn't have had it any other way though. We are so excited that it's ours and that we actually did it. We are doing it. We are making it. The kids rooms are next on my to-do list. Landon's room is a soft pink with 1 accent wall of a bloody burgundy and Ava's room is yellow. Baseboards and all. Oye... I am also planning on ripping up the carpet, extending the tile, and updating light fixtures. OHH! I almost forgot to tell you about my master bedroom, its purple. Like deep Lakers purple with gold flecks in it. Yea.. that's changing on Wednesday. We officially move in this weekend and I will definitely post more before and after pictures. It's too awesome not to share ;)
